Product centricity at WDS: from the initial idea to production excellence

Great response and extensive portfolio

The 650 m² exhibition booth in Hall 1 attracted numerous visitors from all over the world. In-depth technical discussions and great interest in the technologies “made in Germany” on display made the show a resounding success. WDS showcased solutions for the entire spectrum of cast mixtures with pouring temperatures ranging from 20 °C to over 150 °C, thereby demonstrating its comprehensive product and process expertise.

Innovations and product-specific engineering

Among the highlights at the booth was the MogulPRO, which impressed with its maintenance-friendly design and clever features for tray handling, product cleaning and depositing. For jelly products, WDS presented a compact post-treatment drum with a hygienic design and CIP capability in a laboratory format capable of processing up to 100 kg/h. An EasyClean depositor from the ConfecPRO series demonstrated how existing chocolate production lines can be flexibly modernised and expanded. For laboratory and pilot production, WDS introduced a ConfecVARIO loop, which, thanks to a chainless drive system, enables versatile point and ribbon deposit applications that can be parameterised via the HMI without mechanical intervention.

A central component of the WDS approach is product-specific machine design. Through continuous development in-house, systems are created that are highly maintenance-friendly, allow for quick format changes, and feature intuitive operation. At the same time, individual requirements for hygiene, efficiency, and certification are taken into account. The high degree of vertical integration at the German site ensures precise and reliable moulding results.

WDS stands for product and process versatility

At WDS, the product is the central focus: innovative confectionery design, novel ingredients, or determining the ideal manufacturing process.

To this end, Winkler und Dünnebier Süßwarenmaschinen operates two laboratory facilities for chocolate and jelly. For all product lines, WDS offers specialised laboratory depositor systems that are selected based on specific requirements and can be adapted for large-scale production. At Interpack, WDS presented a selection of these systems and explained key details for a successful moulding process.

Service and digitalisation

WDS´ product centricity is complemented by comprehensive service and digitalisation solutions. Digital tools such as the 3D spare parts catalogue and the webshop facilitate spare parts supply, while LifeCycleCare services ensure long-term production performance and minimise downtime. At Interpack, the new SmartMould and SmartTray were presented. These systems precisely detect and monitor mechanical influencing variables in chocolate and Mogul plants, enabling the identification of errors before problems occur.

Conclusion: Strong demand confirms product focus

“Interpack 2026 impressively demonstrated just how strong the demand is for product-centric, customer-oriented solutions in the confectionery industry. The high visitor turnout and the quality of the discussions confirm our approach of consistently designing machines according to our customers’ requirements and implementing innovative confectionery concepts in close partnership with them,” summarises Carsten Butz, Technical Director at WDS.

With this holistic approach and the strong visitor response, WDS underscored its commitment to supporting customers worldwide in the successful development and production of modern confectionery.
