For the 2nd time international experts were invited from Norevo, WDS and D&F Sweets to Aachen to be part of their OTC Symposium.
The two-day event combined 13 specialist presentations by speakers from 12 different companies with plenty of opportunities to exchange knowledge, learn and network.
The 90 participants learnt about the latest news in the functional, enriched fruit gums, nutraceuticals and supplements market. The innovations of recent years in the areas of market data, current trends and legal food law aspects were discussed. Innovative raw materials and products and the technologies and processing behind them were discussed, as well as sustainable sourcing and tracking and the packaging of the future.
An extensive supporting programme with a small company trade fair of other industry companies, networking breaks and a classy evening programme successfully rounded off the first theoretical day.
As part of a practical, hands-on workshop on the second day, the participants had the opportunity to try out the knowledge they had gained as well as some questions on practical implementation for themselves. In small groups, they worked on ingredients and cooking, aromatization and coloring, depositing in starch and in polycarbonate moulds, demoulding and post-treatment. There was also plenty of time for product tasting and the associated process specialities.
‘After taking part in the first OTC symposium, I definitely wanted to attend the second one because it is a unique opportunity for dialogue in the young industry,’ said one participant in conversation.
Following the success of the symposium, the organisers have once again received positive feedback and are pleased to have held an event with real added value for the active pharmaceutical ingredients industry.
