Confectionery plants made by WDS guarantee high-capacity, reliability and sturdiness. In the year 1913, Alfred Winkler and Max Dünnebier laid the foundation stone for the Winkler and Dünnebier Süßwarenmaschinen GmbH, which is today an international success story.
Maschinenbau Runkel GmbH was founded in 1965 by Oswald Runkel and was active as a family-managed mechanical engineering company for numerous leading companies in various industries.
A modern company with international presence developed from the smallest technical skills in the beginning. Since 1997 we have been developing and manufacturing equipment at our company site in Rengsdorf near Neuwied in the Westerwald region of the Rhine valley, in state of the art office buildings and production halls with circa 10.000 m² of usable floor space.
Until today tradition of both family run companies is an integral part of our business culture. In addition to the long-term managing director Rainer Runkel, his daughter Jessica Runkel became the third generation to join the management team in 2021. Thus, business will continue to remain in family hands.
At the turn of the year 2023, the two sister companies WDS and MBR will merge. From now on, all transactions will be conducted in the name of Winkler und Dünnebier Süßwarenmaschinen GmbH. There are many economic advantages, while the company structures remain unchanged due to the long-standing closely related business activities.
After the fusioning, WDS employs 350 people, including 30 trainees in 8 different fields. Before, there were approx. 230 people at WDS and 120 employees at MBR.
A very high in-house production share is realised thanks to modern CNC-controlled machine tools as well as trained personnel. The production area is about 6000 square meters.
In the field of quality assurance, we have built a corresponding system in accordance with ISO 9001 and have been certified since 1997.
The constant expansion of our research and development work is a guarantee to meet the demands of the markets with innovative technologies. In our own laboratory new production facilities for the manufacture of confectionery products are developed and optimized in collaboration with our customers.
